President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday met with the All Progressives Congress Vice Presidential candidate Kashim Shettima hours after he was unveiled in Abuja at a grand ceremony.
Senator Shettima was accompanied to the State House by Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum.
Mr Tinubu justified the choice of Shettima, saying he has the political resume to ensure the ruling party’s victory in 2023 elections.
Shettima was announced as running mate by Mr Tinubu after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari in Daura, Katsina State, on July 10.
Mr Tinubu said he picked Shettima because of his competence, innovation, compassion, integrity, fairness, and adherence to excellence.
Mr Shettima, a trained banker and developmental economist, is a two-term governor of Borno state.
From 2007 to 2011, Shettima was commissioner for finance, local government and chieftaincy affairs, education, agriculture and health in Borno state.
As Borno governor, he formally established youths volunteers (Civilian JTF) that has been assisting military in fighting Boko Haram terrorists.
He also appointed Christians from Southwest, Southeast and South-south as senior aides during his tenure as governor.
