At least 4,770 Boko Haram terrorists have surrendered to troops between June 1 and 15, 2022, the Defence Headquarters has said
The DHQ disclosed this in a press conference on Thursday in Abuja.
It said those who surrendered include 2,490 children; 1,415 women and 814 men.
Director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Benard Onyeuko, who addressed the journalists said all the surrendered terrorists have been profiled.
General Onyeuko said, “Members of Boko Haram terrorists have continued to surrender to own troops at different locations in the theatre.
“All surrendered Boko Haram terrorists/Islamic State West Africa Province members and families were profiled and documented while all arrested and recovered items were handed over to the appropriate authority for further actions.”
He said said 82 terrorists in Zamfara were neutralised while others sustained various degrees of injuries.
