Gunmen have killed three police officers in separate attacks in Rivers and Enugu States.
In Rivers, an unidentified Assistant Superintendent of Police was ambushed and killed in Oyigbo Local Government Area of the State.
The ASP was returning from work on Wednesday when he was wounded in the attack and later died in the hospital.
The spokesperson of the state police command, Grace Iringe-Koko, said the state Commissioner of Police, Friday Eboka, has ordered an investigation into the incident.
In Enugu, gunmen killed two officers when they attacked a police checkpoint on Thursday morning at Gariki, MTD area in Enugu South Local Government Area of the state capital.
The gunmen attacked the checkpoint around 9:10 am.
The police spokesperson in the state, Daniel Ndukwe, is yet to respond to enquiry on the incident as it was learnt that the gunmen were still shooting as at the time of this report.
