Former President Goodluck Jonathan has agreed to offer the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) his time, resources and experience to bounce back to power, former senate president Bukola Saraki has said.
Saraki stated this after a one-and-a-half-hour meeting of top PDP members with Jonathan in Abuja home on Tuesday.
He said all those thinking the former president will defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) should bury the thought.
Saraki told newsmen that part of the mandate of the PDP reconciliation and strategy committee headed by him is to meet and seek the views of former presidents and to inform them of their plans, adding that the committee is starting with Jonathan.
Saraki said the meeting was very productive and useful, adding that “he gave us his views and we are very happy.” He said the former president assured them of his readiness to work with the reconciliation committee.
Former Governors Ibrahim Dankwambo (Gombe), Ibrahim Shema (Katsina) and Liyel Imoke (Cross River); former SGF Anyim Pius Anyim; and former lawmaker Mulikat Adeola-Akande attended the meeting.
