A senior district head, Sarkin Burmi in Bakura Emirate Council of Zamfara state, Halilu Sulaiman, has been abducted by gunmen in an early Saturday morning attack.
Two people around the house were also killed during the attack. There were all married men.
Sarkin Burmi is the district head of Rini town, the third largest community in Bakura local government area.
His two daughters- in law were also abducted by the bandits in the attack that lasted almost two hours.
A local source, Hamza Lawali, said the district head official house was stormed around 1:47am by the bandits
“They (bandits) came on motorcycles and went straight to the district head house. The two people killed were sleeping outside and when they heard the roaring of motorcycles, they woke up but before they could run for they lives, the bandits shot them to death,” he said.
He said the district head house was broken in by the bandits.
“Aside the district head, the bandits also took two of his daughters-in law who are married to two of his sons. One of the sons was in Bakura while the other was around but they didn’t take him. A domestic staff of the district head was also taken,” Hamza added.
He said the bandits conducted room to room search of the district head house but didn’t take anything. He said they didn’t attack any house aside the district head’s.
