Former Minister of Culture and Tourism, Senator Bello Jibril Gada has left the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto state.
However, APC lawmakers representing Gwadabawa-Illela federal constituency and Gudu-Tangaza federal constituency, Abdullahi Balarabe Salame and Yusuf Isa Kurdula have also joined PDP.
Their defection could not be unconnected to the recent APC primaries in the state which many of them rejected the outcomes.
Salame aspired for the governorship ticket of APC which was won by Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko backed aspirant, Ahmed Aliyu.
Salame. had a few days to the primaries notified the party of his withdrawal from the race.
On his part, Kurdula left the party after losing his return ticket during the primaries while the reason for the defection of Gada was not known as at the time of filing this report.
Reacting to their defection, the state chairman of APC, Isa Sadiq Achida said he only knew about the defection of the two lawmakers.
“But that of the former Minister is still a rumour because we are not officially notified.
“All we know is that he is recently appointed as member of the State Hajj delegates by the Governor,” he said.
“But if he made up his mind to leave, we wish him well,” Achida said.
