Fifty travellers have been abducted by bandits when the gunmen blocked the Sokoto – Gusau highway Saturday evening.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE gathered that those abducted were on the road to the Zamfara state capital from Sokoto around 5:56pm.
Jabiru Shehu, a student of Shehu Shagari University of Education, Sokoto, who was going to Maradun said they met several abandoned vehicles on the road.
“I was told that two of the 18- Seater buses were carrying wedding guests while the other two private vehicles were for private individuals. We were there when the police arrived,” he said.
He said he couldn’t confirm if there was dead but one of the vehicles was sprayed with bullets by the bandits.
