The National Vice Chairman, North West of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Salihu Lukman has said only the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party is mandated to discpline Bola Ahmed Tinubu over outbursts on President Muhammadu Buhari.
Speaking against the backdrop of threat by the party’s national chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu that the party may take punitive measures against Tinubu over his utterances in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Lukman said the national chairman alone cannot meet out such punishment.
He said the reaction by Adamu over the matter was his personal opinion.
He said, “But until that opinion is adopted by organ of the party, it cannot be considered as the position of the party. It is not the position of APC, it is his personal opinion.
“We all including Asiwaju himself acknowledged that it was unfortunate he made those statements and it is his right to express his frustration, it should be recognised as such.
“But nobody, no matter the position of the person can use it against him unless the party follow due process through the rightful organs to discuss it.”
