The son of Minister of Information and culture, Mr Folajimi Mohammed, has been defeated at the APC primary for the Lagos state house of assembly.
Mr Mohammed is a two-term lawmaker in the Ikeja constituency 1.
Seyi Lawal secured the ticket after polling 15 votes to defeat Folajimi at the primary that was held on Friday.
Lawal is a former legislative leader of Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos state.
Mr Ewosho Oladunjoye, chairman of the three-member APC electoral committee for the constituency, said Lawal scored 15 votes to defeat Mohammed, who polled nine votes.
The other seven aspirants polled no votes, while there was one void vote.
According to NAN, the primary, which held at St. Peters Anglican Primary School, Ikeja constituency 1, was conducted under heavy presence of security operatives.
Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were also present to monitor the exercise.
Aside from Folajimi and Lawal, seven other aspirants contested the Ikeja constituency 1 APC ticket, and they included Ladapo Oyebiyi, Ismail Balogun, Taofeek Olorunfunmi, Olabode Akerele, Adegboyega Kuku, Bode Tawak, and Adesipe Adebiyi.
