The All Progressives Congress (APC) has confirmed Monday, 6 – Wednesday, 8 June as tentative dates for its special convention for the presidential primary.
The National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Felix Morka, made this known in a statement.
“Following the Independent National Electoral Commission’s extension of deadline for the submission of list of candidates by political parties, the All Progressives Congress hereby postpones its special convention for presidential primary from Sunday, 29 – Monday, 30 May, 2020 to Monday, 6 – Wednesday, 8 June, 2022, Morka noted.
He said the postponement followed the extension of the deadline by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for political parties to submit the list of candidates.
The commission had on Friday, extended the deadline for parties to conduct primaries and submit list of candidates by one week.
INEC National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, said the decision to shift ground over the matter was as a result of persistent appeal by parties to extend the timeline.
