Bandits have killed at least three people, abducted several others while others sustained severe injuries in an early Friday morning attack on Matsa village of Bungudu local government area of Zamfara state.
21 CENTURY CHRONICLE gathered that the bandits were not on motorcycles when they stormed the village Fe minutes to the early morning Muslim prayer.
“I was getting ready to go to the mosque when I started hearing gunshots from the houses behind our street. I asked my wife to lay down while I ran to the other room where our children sleep and laid them down,” an indigene of Matsa village told 21st CENTURY CHRONICLE.
He said the bandits took away his neighbor’s wife and her daughter while three other people were also taken in houses closer to him.
All the three killed were men, though he said the number of those killed could rise because “they’re residents we’re yet to see.”
A health official in the local government area, Ibrahim Abba confirmed that the wounded residents are receiving treatment at the Bungudu General Hospital.
“But I’ve learnt that a good Samaritan has paid for the bills and they would be taken to the state capital and be admitted to Federal Medical Center Gusau before the level of wounds are severe. In fact, one of the residents has his hand chopped off by the bandits,” he said.
ASP Mohammed Shehu, the Zamfara state police command spokesperson, promised to verify the story and confirm whether it’s true.
