Business mogul, Tonye Cole, has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s governorship candidate for Rivers State.
He polled a total of 986 votes to defeat four other contestants in the race.
His closest rival, Ojukaye Flag Amachree, a former state chairman of the APC, polled 190 votes to come second, while Sokonte Davies came 3rd with 46 votes.
Cole is a key ally of the former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi and his preferred candidate.
Earlier on Thursday morning, one of the key contender for the ticket, Magnus Abe withdrew from the primary, saying he cannot be part of an “already skewed, biased and prejudiced process”
