Former First Bank executive director, Dauda Lawal Dare, has emerged as the gubernatorial candidate of the PDP in Zamfara state.
Announcing the result of the primaries, the chairman of PDP Governorship Primary Election Panel in the State, Adamu Maina Waziri said Dauda Dare got Four Hundred and Thirty One Votes (431)
He noted that Hafiz Usman Nahuche got no vote; Engr Ibrahim Shehu Gusau got Five votes; Alh. Wadatau Madawaki scored three votes.
However, the trio of Ibrahim Shehu Bakauye, Wadatau Madawaki and Hafiz Nahuce have vowed to challenge the emergence of Mr Dauda.
They complained that there was no level playing ground during the election.
Though they said they withdrew from the contest to protect their images, Bakauye addressed reporters at the party office and said they would seek party headquarters involvement in the matter.
Dauda Dare, a former Executive Director at First Bank Nigeria, is seen as the candidate of the PDP stakeholders in the state especially General Ali Gusau, who forced his son, the impeached deputy governor, Mahadi Ali Gusau to shelve his ambition and support Mr Dauda
Gusau and Abu Nakwada, loyal to Ali Gusau, all withdrew for Dauda before the primaries.
Commenting on the results of the primary, chairman of the party, Col. Bala Mande (rtd) said delegates were allowed to exercise their rights.
He also expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the results.
