Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu and his Enugu State counterpart, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, have won the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) tickets to represent their respective senatorial districts in 2023.
Also, a former governor of Enugu State, Chimaroke Nnamani, retained the senatorial ticket for Enugu East as he polled all the 243 votes cast at the primary election.
While Ikpeazu won the PDP ticket for Abia south senatorial district, Ugwuanyi clinched the party’s ticket for Enugu north.
Ugwuanyi scored 299 votes to defeat Mr. Celestine Okanya, Chief Ikechukwu Eze and Prof Godsmark Ugwu during the poll.
Nnamani on the other hand, polled all the 243 votes cast during the poll to secure the return ticket.
For the Enugu west senatorial district, Osita Ngwu replaced Ike Ekweremadu who has been in the National Assembly since 2003.
Ngwu scored 177 votes to defeat a three-time House of Representatives member, Ogbuefi Ozomgbachi who scored 55 votes and former Aviation Minister, Fidelia Njeze who got three votes.
