Dino Melaye, a former senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, has lost his bid to return to the upper chamber of the National Assembly on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He lost the race to the incumbent member of the House of Representatives representing Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency, Tajudeen Yusuf.
Both aspirants got 88 votes in a contest on Monday, thereby necessitating a rerun.
In the Tuesday contest, Yusuf clinched 163 votes against Melaye’s 99.
Reacting to the defeat, who congratulated Yusuf for emerging victorious, said he the “gang up is unimaginable”.
“The Primary has been fought and won. I congratulate Hon. T.J YUSUF and thank all those who voted in the first and second ballot for me. The Gang up is unimaginable but l give God praise. God bless you all. SDM,” he said.
