The House of Representatives Minority Leader, Ndudi Elumelu, has secured the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for his return bid to the lower chamber in 2023.
Elumelu currently represents Aniocha north/Aniocha south/Oshimili north/Oshimili south federal constituency of Delta state.
It would be the fifth times the lawmaker would be returning to lower chamber if he eventually wins at the poll.
Elumelu was first elected to the house of representatives in 2007.
He was re-elected in 2011, 2015 and 2019, respectively.
According to the outcome of the primary announced by the returning officer, Funkekeme Solomon, in Asaba, Delta State, Elumelu secured 80 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Pat Ajudua, who garnered 35 votes, while Kanyinebi Mobushi came third with 17 votes.
According to Solomon, a total of 132 delegates participated in the election, adding that the exercise was fair and transparent.
“Elumelu, having scored the highest votes, is hereby declared winner and returned as the candidate of the PDP for the Aniocha/Oshimili federal constituency in the 2023 general election,” he said.
