Mr. Anamekwe Chukwunyere Nwabuoku has been appointed as overseer of the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF).
The overseer is currently the Director, Inspectorate OAGF.
The appointment was announced on Sunday in a letter dated 20 May, 2022 and signed by Aliyu Ahmed, Permanent Secretary (Finance), Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning.
Mr Nwabuoku’s appointment was following the arrest and indefinite suspension of AGF Ahmad Idris who is being investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over N80 billion alleged fraud.
A statement by Yunusa Tanko Abdullahi, Special Adviser to the minister of Finance Budget and National Planning, said the new appointment is pending the outcome of the EFCC investigation.
The statement reads, “Mr. Anamekwe is expected to carry out his duty in strict compliance with extant rules and observe the highest sense of professionalism expected of an officer working at his level.
“Currently, he is Director, Inspectorate Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, and presently he is overseeing the office of the Accountant General of the Federation.”
