Minister of Labour, Chris Ngige; Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, and Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)’s governor, Godwin Emefiele did not submit the All Progressives Congress (APC) expression of interest and nomination forms.
The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Felix Morka, disclosed this in an interview with The Channels Television monitored by The Cable.
He said out of the 28 presidential aspirants who purchased the forms to contest for the presidency, 25 filled and returned same to the national secretariat of the party.
He noted that the trio of Ngige, Emefiele and Sylva failed to return their forms.
President Muhammadu Buhari had directed cabinet members and appointees who wanted to contest for elective positions political to resign.
Ngige, Sylva, Pauline Tallen, Minister of Women Affairs and the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami who had purchased forms to contest for various positions, withdrew from the race.
Although a group of farmers and traders bought forms for Emefiele it was not clear whether he returned the forms neither did he resigned from his position as directed by the president.
“We have 28 aspirants altogether who purchased forms. At the last count, we have about 25 who made submission of those forms. Three of them did not — senator Chris Ngige, Godwin Emefiele, Timipre Sylva did not submit their forms,” the APC spokesperson said.
