The Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) will barring any last minute changes, resume the suspended e-valuation policy for imported vehicles.
The implementation of the policy, also known as Vehicle Inspection Number, introduced a few months back, was suspended following the controversy it was met with and protests by clearing agents and other ports stakeholders, who said it would among other things, bring about an increase in duty paid on imported vehicles.
However, the NCS, in a May 17 letter said the agency said there would be a sensitisation programme for stakeholders in the clearance chain today (Thursday), in preparation for the redeployment.
The letter, signed by the Deputy Controller, Administration, Nigeria Customs Service, A.Y. Odusanya, on behalf of the Customs Area Controller in charge of the Apapa Command of the service, Yusuf Malanta, noted that the session would “benefit everyone and further clarify any question.”
