The management of Abdu Gusau Polytechnic Talata Mafara in Zamfara state has confirmed the abduction of its Students Affairs Officer, Mallam Sanusi Halilu and Mallam Tukur Muhammad, a staff with LGEA Bakura, on the Abuja – Kaduna highway.
Bandits attacked the busy highway Tuesday evening abducting unspecified number of travellers.
In a statement sent to 21st CENTURY CHRONICLE by Aliyu Damri, the institution’s public relations officer, the abductees were going to Abuja for attend Pre-NYSC, mobilization workshop to be held Wednesday in Abuja.
Damri said Mallam Sanusi Sokoto, a staff with Federal Road Safety Corps, Sokoto State Command, who was traveling in the same car with the abductees, sustained injuries and has been admitted into a hospital in Suleja, Niger state.
He said Mallam Lawali Tukur, Mallam Aliyu Atiku the Deputy Registrar, Zamfara state Collage of Agriculture and Animal Sciences escaped unhurt when the bandits began shooting sporadically.
He said the four civil servants were traveling in “their car, Corollah 2007 model, ash color, with registration number ZM 02 P46” and it was blocked by the bandits in Katari. .
“The polytechnic has also provided all it takes to support the family pending the release of the officer,” he said.
