Dozens of travellers were abducted along the Abuja- Kaduna Highway on Tuesday.
Witnesses said the bandits struck around 4:20pm around Katari area, in Kachia Local government of Kaduna State.
Video footage revealed many passengers stranded with many vehicles empty.
A witness who narrowly escaped the attack, Abdullahi Auwal Aliyu, said the attack took place not far away from St. Peter’s Minor Seminary Katari, which is about 79 kilometres to Kaduna.
Mr Aliyu, who posted the video of stranded commuters on the busy highway on Facebook, said at least occupants of seven vehicles were abducted.
He said security forces arrived at the scene after the kidnappers had left.
Another witness said an 18- seater bus belonging to Zamfara State Transport Authority (ZAPA), a Peugeot 406, two Toyota Corolla, a Volkswagen Golf, and several other vehicles were attacked during the incident.
