At least one person was killed as gunmen opened fire on some officials of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in a Lagos hotel, where they conducted the just concluded UTME exams.
A security man at Mabila Hotel in Ikorodu, Lagos State, was killed during the attack in the early hours of Wednesday.
The slain security man was identified as Peter. He was 40.
He was killed while trying to stop the hoodlums from escaping.
The gunmen also robbed some officials of the board who lodged in the hotel.
Spokesperson of Lagos police command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, told the News Agency of Nigeria that the victims had been relocated to a safe place.
Hundeyin said, “One Prof. Odunsi, an official of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) who lodged at the hotel was robbed of his two phones, one HP Laptop and N20,000 cash.
“Similarly, two female officials of JAMB, who lodged at the hotel, were robbed of their phones and jewellery.”
