President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday asked all his ministers contesting elective offices in 2023 general elections to resign.
The president asked the ministers to resign on or before Monday, May 16, 2023.
This was disclosed by the Minister of Information and Culture Lai Mohammed on Wednesday in an interview with State House journalists at the Presidential Villa Abuja.
It was learned at the FEC that the Buhari who was visibly livid, announced that he had received the resignation of Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba.
Buhari said: “I expect other members of this council seeking to be President to resign with immediate effect.”
At least Mr Rotimi Amaechi (Transportation), Chris Ngige (Labour), Abubakar Malami (Justice), Godswill Akpabio (Niger Delta), have declared interest to contest various elective offices.
