Atletico’s lead has been cut from 10 points to five in the space of a week, with Real Madrid now two matches ahead their city rivals instead of one.
Atletico would be 11 points clear of Barca and Real Madrid, 12 ahead of Sevilla, if they took all the maximum points from their outstanding matches.
At present the lead Atletico hold is narrow, others hoping Atletico to drop more points in the coming weeks.
Possibly Atletico won’t keep up current pace, which will mean a finishing total of 97 points, more than any La Liga champion since 2013, when Barcelona reached 100 on the back of Lionel Messi scoring 46 league goals.
