The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation, Senator Barau Jibrin (APC, Kano North), would battle Governor Abdullahi Ganduje for the Kano North senatorial ticket.
Ganduje had earlier been endorsed to pick the senatorial ticket for the APC by party stakeholders.
Barau was said to have drop his governorship ambition 24 hours after Ganduje anointed his deputy as the consensus candidate of the party.
The lawmaker is one of the leaders of the G-7, a splinter group in the Kano APC.
