The new Och’Idoma, Dr. John Elaigwu, will be formally coronated end of June this year, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has said.
Ortom disclosed this on Monday at the temporary palace of the paramount ruler in Otukpo after inspecting the ongoing reconstruction of the traditional rulers’ palace where he also met with other traditional rulers.
He said his Special Adviser on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barrister Kenneth Achabo should liaise with the paramount ruler to set up a committee that handle the ceremony.
A statement by the governor’s Press Secretary Nathaniel Ikyur quoted Ortom saying he has ordered the acceleration of work on the palace reconstruction to ensure timely completion.
He expressed appreciation to the traditional rulers and the people of Idoma for cooperating with the Och’Idoma to ensure peace in the area.
