Two separate committees investigating the alleged involvement of two emirs in bandits’ activities in Zamfara State submitted their report to the deputy governor, Hassan Muhammad Nasiha, Monday evening.
Spokesperson to the deputy governor, Babangida Umar Zurmi, told 21st CENTURY CHRONICLE that Nasiha promised to ensure that recommendations of the committees are implemented accordingly.
The deputy governor said the state government would not leave any stone unturned to ensure that the culprits are brought to justice.
Nasiha said, “As we all know, the state government has promised to deal accordingly with anyone found wanting as regards security issues no matter how highly placed he is. As we continue to find ways to ensure lasting peace in our state, we will not fold our arms and watch while some elements try to undermine our efforts.”
Recall that the Emirs of Zurmi and Dansadau, Atiku Abubakar Muhammadu and Hussaini Umar were at different times suspended by the Zamfara State government in June 2021 following allegations of aiding and conniving with bandits operating in their areas.
Submitting the reports on behalf of the two committees, the state commissioner of security and home affairs, Mamman Ibrahim Tsafe said “appropriate strategies” were used by the committees before compiling the reports.
He said the suspected emirs were also given the chance to respond to the allegations against them.
