The Bauchi State Executive Council on Wednesday approved the renamingo f Bauchi State University, Gadau, after a First Republic politiciana nd activist, Malam Sa’adu Zungur.
The state Commissioner for Education, Dr Aliyu Tilde, disclosed this in a statement after the council meeting in Bauchi.
“This is done to immortalize the name of late Malam Sa’adu Zungur (1915-1958), a Bauchi indigene that was among the leaders that fought for our independence, the mentor of Malam Aminu Kano, a one-time secretary of National Council for Nigeria and Cameroon (NCNC), a political activist whose progressive ideas shaped the Northern political culture to date,” he said.
Tilde said that the decision will soon be gazetted.
