Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar was missing as presidential aspirants on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP, met behind closed-doors in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Wednesday.
Leading contenders for the party’s ticket which included former Senate President, Bukola Saraki; the Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Mohammed and his Sokoto State counterpart, Aminu Tambuwal as well as former Managing Director of FSB International Bank, Dr Mohammed Hayatu-Deen were in Rivers State for the meeting.
According to a report by the PUNCH, Governor, Nyesom Wike, said the interest of the aspirants was to ensure the consolidation of unity in the party.
He said, “Our interest is the unity of the party. Our interest is to make Nigerians happy by making sure that by 2023, PDP takes over the reins of government because Nigerians are patiently waiting for such a moment.”
On his part, the leader of the delegation, Senator Bukola Saraki said their discussion centred on identifying the best available ways to ensure that all concerned party members embrace unity, as there is strength in unity as proverbially said.
