Premier League is willing to give managers more creative freedom from next season by allowing five substitutions in a game following a tweak to the league’s rules.
Initially, five substitutions were introduced during a return to competitive action after a coronavirus enforced lockdown in 2020, but now it’s permanently in the Premier League rules.
The statement was from the Premier League on the organization’s official website which reads: “Clubs agree to change the rules relating to substitute players.
“From next season, clubs will be permitted to make five substitutions, to be made on three occasions during a match, with an additional opportunity at half-time.
“A total of nine substitutes can be named on the team sheet.”
