The National Film and Video Censorship Board (NFVCB) in partnership with Motion Pictures Association of Nigeria (MOPPAN) had organized a capacity building on virtual film development for stakeholders to address the issue of social media misuses and other related issues.
In his address, the National President of MOPPAN, Dr Ahmad Mohammed Sarari, said one of the major duties of MOPPAN is to ensure the conduct of the film making industry in accordance to set rules and regulation as well as making sure of a unified association that will promote positive development.
He said the theme of the training, “Guilds and associations mandate on the film production and outlook on social media, benefits and menace to society” has been carefully selected to address the issues centred around the entertainment industry especially Kannywood.
Similarly, in a paper presented during the event by the Head of Department Information and Media Studies Bayero University Kano (BUK), Dr Nura Ibrahim; effective ways to use social media were highlighted.
Represented by Dr Ruqayya Yusuf Aliyu, the paper titled, “Social Media Benefits and ills” talked about the best practices and the ills in social media usage.
It can be recalled that during the veteran actress Ladin Chima saga that set the industry on fire for weeks, MOPPAN during a reconciliation meeting promised to hold training for members to ensure positive usage of social media.
