Some All Progressive Congress (APC) stakeholders have called on President Muhammadu Buhari to act decisively and stop the crisis rocking the ruling party from degenerating further.
The stakeholders believed only Buhari has the capacity to bring party faithfuls together in order to work collectively for its victory during the forthcoming general elections.
The leader of group, Alhaji Mohammed Usman in a statement, Friday in Abuja, said the president must intervened to protect his legacy built over the years through sustained effort.
The stakeholders also want the president to support the emergence of a national chairman who share his dream and commitment to nation building.
They argued that among the array of aspirants jostling for the position, only the former governor of Nasarawa State, Alhaji Tanko Al-Makura has identified with the president’s vision and rally round him through his struggle.
The group said, “The president has done so well. You can point at the developmental strides achieved under this administration in every part of the country . We want more of this development but this can only happen if APC government is in place after his exit.
“The president’s legacy can be sustained if a key loyalist like Al-Makura is in the saddle as the chairman of the party.
“He is a true believer in the Buhari philosophy of growth and development. His loyalty to the president has never been in doubt right from the days of the defunct congress for progressive change (CPC).
“Al-Makura is the ideal person that can lead the APC as we approach the election. He has all the wherewithal to galvanize the support of all and sundry. He has paid his dues for the APC as it is only fair and just to cede the seat to him.”
