The Management of the Federal University, Dutsin-Ma in Katsina State has said there was no time the authorities of the university banned any kind of Christian activities at the campus.
The Director, Public Relations and Protocol, Habibu Garba Matazu, made the clarification in a statement on Monday.
He said the university was not aware nor authorized any statement banning Christian activities in the school.
The management said a statement alleging that Christian activities had been banned at the university was in circulation, adding that it was not aware nor authorized of it.
“The university management has equally distanced itself from the statement and urged all to do so as it was not officially communicated through the Institution’s approved channels,” the statement said.
According to the university, the office of the registrar and the Directorate of Public Relations and Protocols are its two approved channels of communications, adding that any such statement coming out not duly signed by the approved channels should be ignored and discarded, because it lacks the needed authority.
“FUDMA is a detrabilised and religious tolerant institution that appreciates the spiritual values and practices of all its staff and students, as such the university authority cannot be behind such a statement.
“The university management is hereby calling on all to disregard the statement and assure of its continuous support to all members of the university community irrespective of their religion or ethnicity. The management has resolved to deal with whoever is so found to have written such a statement,” the management said.
