Five kidnap victims, including a toddler, abducted by terrorists in the Kankara Local Government Area of the state had been rescued by the police.
Katsina police command spokesperson, SP Gambo Isah, said the terrorists, who revealed this, said the terrorists attacked Gidan Nasheku community in Kwantakwamawa village at about 1am shooting indiscriminately.
Four women and the toddler were seized by the bandits, Isah said adding that the bandits were, however, intercepted and repelled by the police following a distress call.
Isah said, “On March 4, 2022, at about 12.40am, a distress call was received that terrorists in their numbers, on motorcycles, shooting indiscriminately with AK-47 rifles, attacked Gidan Nasheku, Kwantakwamawa village, Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State, and kidnapped four members of a household, all female, one of them having a one-and-half-year-old baby.
“Subsequently, the DPO, Kankara, led a team of policemen to the area, blocked the hoodlums, and engaged them in a gun duel. The operational strategy and tactics exhibited by the policemen made the terrorists flee and abandon their heinous mission. All the kidnapped victims were rescued unhurt.
