President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday returned to Abuja from Nairobi, Kenya instead of proceeding to London for medicals as earlier announced.
The president’s return was announced Friday by Mr Bashir Ahmad, a personal assiatnt on social media to Buhari.
Buhari attended attended the 50th Anniversary of the UN Environmental Programme (UNEP) in Nairobi, Kenya.
The Nigerian leader was expected to procced to the United Kingdom for a two-week medical check up after the Kenya event.
Presidential spokesperson Femi Adesina had announced the medical trip in a statement earlier in the week.
Adesina said, “From Kenya, President Buhari will proceed to London for routine medical checks that will last for a maximum of two weeks.”
But on Friday afternoon, Ahmad tweeted that Buhari was in Abuja.
Ahmad tweeted, “President Muhammadu Buhari has returned to Abuja, after his participation in the 50th Anniversary of the UN Environmental Programme (UNEP) in Nairobi, Kenya.”
