Sokoto state is planning to evacuate 49 students it sent to Ukraine on scholarship because of the ongoing war in the Eastern European country.
Ukraine is currently under a heavy attacks from the Russian armed forces who are reportedly closing in to its capital city of Kiev.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE reliably gathered that Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has directed the state scholarship board to start making arrangement for their immediate evacuation.
The Governor who engaged the students in a zoom meeting, expressed concern over their condition.
The Director, Foreign Students of the board, Kabiru Labaran who confirmed this to our reporter said, the students are safe.
“We held a meeting with our students and their parents also participated. they assured us they are in good condition,” he said.
According to Labaran, another meeting would be held tomorrow with the students.
The students were studying science related courses.
