The Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun, on Thursday cashed out 37 herdsmen and 5,000 cows from the state’s forest reserve.
This is coming two weeks after Governor Rotimi Akeredolu issued eviction notices to herders to vacate the forest.
The state commander of the Amotekun, Adetunji Adeleye, said some of the herders, who could not cope with the terms and conditions of the state government had “opted to move out of the state peacefully.”
“Some opted to go to Osun, Edo and Kogi states and our men escorted them to the boundaries of those states,” he said.
“We have to monitor their movements out of the state so that they would not destroy farms on their way out.”
