A suspected arms supplier to bandits, Musa Kamarawa has revealed how he bought a gun truck for bandit kingpin terrorising Sokoto and Zamfara states, Halilu Kachalla.
Musa, a university graduate, said he has been involved in banditry since 2018.
He disclosed this in Sokoto when he was paraded by the Deputy Inspector General of Police (Operations), Zaki Ahmed on Monday.
Kamarawa is said to be a close ally of another notorious bandit leader Bello Turji.
He said there was a time he went to Cotonou in Benin Republic to buy a gun truck for Kachalla.
“When I went there I discovered that the truck was not there, so we called one car dealer in Libya who directed us to one man in Niger Republic who collected the money and brought the truck.
“It was my brother, Aminu, who delivered the vehicle to Kachalla. We purchased it at the cost of N28.5 million,” he said.
“But I am regretting doing this. I promise I will not do it again and I will support security operatives to arrest bandits in the state,” Kamarawa said.
DIG Zaki said the police would not relent until the gun truck is recovered.
