Faisal Maina, son of former chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT), Abdulrasheed Maina, has fled to the United States of America (USA), Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has said.
EFCC’s counsel, Mohammed Abubakar, said this when he appeared before Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Thursday.
He said information at the disposal of the anti-graft agency revealed that Faisal sneaked to the U.S through the Republic of Niger.
Faisal was granted a N60 million bail with a surety in like sum who must be a serving member of the House of Representatives.
Faisal’s father, who is standing trial for alleged money laundering, was extradited from Niger Republic last year after he jumped bail.
At the sitting on Thursday, Justice Abang, in a committal proceeding ruling, ordered Faisal’s surety, who is a member of the House of Representatives, Sani Dan-Galadima, representing Kaura-Namoda Federal Constituency of Zamfara, to forfeit a property used as bail bond.
Senator Ali Ndume, who stood as surety for Maina, and Adeola Adedipe, his lawyer, had withdrawn from the case.
The court subsequently refused to grant the suspect bail.
