The House of Representatives on Thursday, passed the Electoral Act (Amendment) Bill.
The bill was read for the third time and passed during the plenary session on Thursday.
It was passed after the removal of clause (84) requiring political parties to only select candidates through direct primaries.
The Senate on Wednesday also passed the bill after removing the clause that makes direct primary mandatory for the election of candidates in political parties.
While the House gave options of parties adopting direct or indirect primaries, the Senate included direct and indirect primaries as well as the consensus mode as suggested by the President.
