Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has said that criminal cartel have been stealing crude from five terminals.
It said although there were 30 terminals, five are being targeted by the cartels.
The Director/Chief Executive Officer of DPR, Sarki Auwalu, explained on Wednesday that the cartel also involved some unnamed powerful contacts.
He said most of the crude stolen comes from the land and transported through the pipelines to the export terminal.
He added that in the process of transporting through the pipelines, there are interferences while the crude is stolen in smaller quantities to make up for what they steal, transport them in smaller badges to the ship waiting for them.
