The last Thursday attacks in communities in Anka and Bakkuyum local government areas of Zamfara State claimed 58 lives.
The emirs of Anka and Bakkuyum, Alhaji Attahiru Ahmed and Alhaji Muhammad Usman, have disclosed.
The affected communities were in Kurfa Dunya in Bukkuyum and Waramu district in Anka local government areas respectfully.
There were conflicting figures of lives lost when undisclosed numbers of bandits attacked the communities, leaving behind tales of deaths and destruction.
Over a hundred persons were said to have been killed in reports quoting local sources.
However, speaking separately when Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle paid an assessment visit to the affected communities, Alhaji Attahiru Ahmed said 22 persons were confirmed dead in Waramu district, while the emir of Bukkuyum puts the death toll in Kurfa Dunya at 36.
The emir of Anka explained that 21 persons earlier reported to be among those who lost their lives in the carnage, were taking refuge in neighbouring villages.
