President Muhammadu Buhari and governors elected on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) will meet ON Sunday over the party’s national convention scheduled for February 2022.
Chairman of the Northern Governors Forum and Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong, told journalists after a close-door meeting with Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja that the meeting will focus on the proposed date for the convention.
Progressive Governors Forum’s chairman and Kebbi State Governor, Atiku Bagudu, had earlier hinted on the possibility of a meeting over the issue.
There had been a clamour for a change in date of the scheduled national convention to enable the party resolve its crisis, while some members insisted the convention must hold in February.
Lalong said the governors have given President Buhari the assurance that the convention will hold as scheduled.
