Bandits on Friday abducted the wife and two daughters of Dr. Abdurrazaq Umar Mu’azu, a deputy director at the School of Undergraduate Studies at the Federal College of Education Technical, Gusau in Zamfara state.
The daughters, Maryam and Hafsat are 400 and 200 level students at the Federal University Gusau.
Salisu Gusau, a staff of the college and one of Mu’azu’s neighbors told 21st CENTURY CHRONICLE that the bandits stormed Mariri area where Mu’azu resides with his family at about 12am on Friday, and went straight to the lecturer’s house.
He said all efforts made by the bandits to get access to the lecturer’s part of the house proved abortive as he was said to have hid in the ceiling.
“They broke all the window panels and shattered the glasses but they couldn’t enter because of the high security iron burglars. So, they instead went to his wife’s section and took her away alongside the two daughters,” he added.
Gusau said the abductors were yet to reach out to the family for ransom, adding that he called one of the daughters, Maryam’s line in the morning and one of the abductors answered but later switched off the phone.
Registrar of the institution, Mohammed Adamu Bungudu confirmed the incident.
He, however, refused to comment further, adding that he was observing his leave.
The mobile line of the spokesperson of Zamfara Police Command, Mohammed Shehu, was not going through at the time of filing this report.
