Thousands of people have fled Kwapre, Dabna and some adjoining communities in Garaha ward in Hong local government area of Adamawa State due to attacks by bandits.
Garaha ward is where the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha hails from.
Sources said the fleeing residents have taken refuge in Hong, the local government headquarters, Gombi town and some safer communities around the area.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE gathered that bandits have imposed taxes and safety levies on Dabna, Sashiu, Lar and many villages within the Duguba district.
But despite the levies being paid by residents, it was further learnt that kidnapping continue unabated in those communities without help from security agencies.
The development have prompted some residents and those of other communities that heard of the incidents to take to their heels.
Spokesperson of Adamawa Police Command, Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed bandit attacks in some communities.
“Yes, there are kidnap scare around those villages,” he said.
“it’s normal for the people to be scared. But the Commissiner of Police has directed the deployment of troops to safeguard the areas.”
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE reports that about 52 people were abducted this year in the communities, but only eight persons had returned home.
