The Nigeria Customs Service says it seized goods worth N40.5 million Duty Paid Value in Kaduna state.
Kaduna State Comptroller, Al-Bashir Hamisu, who disclosed this on Wednesday at the Zone B Headquarters, Kaduna, said the seizures were made by the Federal Operation Units of the zone.
He listed some of the seized goods to include 484 parcels of Indian hemp, 373 bags of foreign rice, vegetable oil 45 kgs and 48 bales of second hand clothing.
Hamisu said the 484 parcels of the seized Indian hemp had been handed over to Kaduna state commander of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Uche Iyke.
The comptroller said rice importation remains illegal and therefore his personnel will not compromise by allowing foreign rice into the country, adding that the federal government has a very good plan for agriculture and customs is ever ready to ensure that the policies are achieved.
He vowed that Customs will continue to secure the borders against smugglers.
