There are no plans to field former President Goodluck Jonathan as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the 2023 presidential election, the party’s caretaker chairman, Governor Mai Mala Buni has said.
Buni, who spoke with the BBC Hausa Service said it is just a rumour by people who are afraid, adding that there is no such thing.
He said “even if someone wants to base his assumption on our recent visit to him during his birthday, we were there because of his capacity as a former President of Nigeria.”
Buni said the time when aspirants would be crowned from Abuja is over, adding that it is the people at the grassroots that will select leaders upwards.
