The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has appointed former Super Eagles captain Augustine Eguavoen as the technical adviser of the national team.
The appointment of the 56-year-old former coach was with immediate effect following a virtual meeting of the NFF Executive Committee on Sunday.
Eguavoen would succeed the German tactician, Gernot Rohr who was sacked following his trophyless technical leadership of over five years with the national team.
The NFF also appointed Salisu Yusuf (Chief Coach); Paul Aigbogun (Assistant Coach); Joseph Yobo (Assistant Coach); Dr Terry Eguaoje (Assistant Coach) and Aloysius Agu (Goalkeeper Trainer) to work with former Nigeria’s U23 coach.
Augustine ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha, Nwankwo Kanu and Garba Lawal will provide technical and ambassadorial support for the crew, the NFF added.
“He will now take charge of the team as it begins preparations for the 33rd Africa Cup of Nations taking place in Cameroon 9th January – 6th February 2022, and until the appointment of a substantive Head Coach”, the NFF said
