Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Niger State, has removed former governor Babangida Aliyu as party leader in the State.
The party announced Senator Zainab Kure as his replacement.
Mrs Kure is the wife of late Abdulkadir Kure, a former governor of the state.
She had in September replaced Aliyu on the PDP Board of Trustees, representing the North-Central geo-political zone.
The announcement removing Aliyu as party leader was contained in a statement signed by the Publicity Secretary of the party, Suleiman Aliyu.
The statement said Kure was unanimously endorsed to replace Aliyu whom the party said l, has automatically returned to his position as member.
The motion on the matter was said to have been moved by the State Auditor, Mamman Suleja on behalf of the state executive committee after a stakeholders meeting.
He said, “In appreciation of the contributions of Senator Zaynab Kure to the development of the PDP in Niger state, I move that Senator Zaynab Kure is endorsed as the leader of the PDP in Niger State.”
The party Chairman, Tanko Beji put the motion to a vote with all stakeholders accepting the motion as moved.
In her acceptance speech, Kure called on all party members to double their efforts in ensuring that the party wins the next election and salvage the state.
