Former Chief of Army Staff, General Muhammadu Inuwa Wushishi, is dead.
Family sources said the general died on Saturday in a London hospital after a brief illness.
He was 81.
The deceased was born in Wushishi, Niger State in 1940.
In the Second Republic, Wushishi served as army chief from October 1981 to October 1983.
He was General Officer Commanding, 4 Infantry Division, Nigerian Army in 1976; and Commandant of Staff College, Jaji, in 1979.
Wushishi joined the Nigerian Army on 21 April 1961.
He attended the Nigerian Military Training College, Kaduna.
He was commissioned as a second lieutenant on 12 January 1962.
